LOS ANGELES (AP) — Court documents allege that a Los Angeles teacher arrested in the fatal stabbing of his estranged wife had threatened to kill her using piano wire, an ice pick, guns or pipe bombs.

Michael Rodney Kane was arrested Monday for allegedly killing his wife, Michelle Kane, on Saturday.

She wrote in a petition for a restraining order in April that she lived in fear of husband, who had a long history of drug abuse and undiagnosed bipolar disorder.

She said he'd been hospitalized last May because of suicidal thoughts and stopped seeing his psychiatrist after his release.

Authorities say the woman had sought refuge at a friend's house but her husband showed up, forced his way in and chased her onto a street where he stabbed her repeatedly.
