Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station have arrested two men believed to be behind a string of vehicle burglaries over the past month in the Bridgeport area of Valencia, a detective said Friday.

Detective Mike Marino with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said the pair was nabbed after a tip about suspicious activity in the Bridgeport area early Thursday morning.

“It was thanks to an alert resident,” Marino said.

Deputies responded to the scene and eventually detained two men, identified as Saugus resident Chase Garcia, 20, and Valencia resident Andrew Khachatourian, 21.

The pair is suspected in 11 vehicle burglaries over the last three to four weeks, Marino said. All but one of those burglaries took place in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Valencia.

Garcia has since been booked on charges of possession of controlled cannabis, receiving stolen property and petty theft. Khachatourian has been booked on charges of receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and petty theft.

Garcia is being held on $10,000 bail, and Khachatourian’s bail is set at $20,000. Both men are scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Since arresting the duo, deputies have recovered approximately 50 stolen items, mostly sunglasses and electronics, worth several thousand dollars, according to Marino.

“We’ve already returned quite a bit of property,” Marino said. “In the last 24 hours I’ve returned 15 or 16 items at least.”

But there are still items, including cameras, iPods and GPS devices, that have yet to be claimed, he said.

Anyone with additional information about the burglaries, or who believes his or her property may have been stolen, is encouraged to call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
