Firefighters quickly doused a small brush fire in Castaic this morning, holding it to less than three acres, according to an inspector from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Inspector Keith Mora said the fire was first reported shortly before 10 a.m. near southbound Interstate 5 and Lake Hughes Road, but crews were able to extinguish it about 20 minutes later.

Nobody was injured in the fire and no structures were damaged, Mora said.

The fire started in roughly the same area as May’s Lake Fire, which burned 712 acres and forced short-term evacuations near Castaic Lake.
