LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Gardena tow truck driver involved in a deadly bus crash in Los Angeles had traffic violations and led police on a high-speed chase five years ago.

Yousef Adhami remains hospitalized after his truck apparently sped through a red light and collided with a Metro bus downtown on Wednesday. The bus driver, Olivia Gamboa of Montebello, died at a hospital. Nobody else was aboard.

The Torrance Daily Breeze (http://bit.ly/1bC2GXv ) says records show that Adhami was living in Youngstown, Ohio in 2008 when he led police on an eight-mile chase into Pennsylvania. He claimed to be wearing explosives but eventually surrendered and was convicted of fleeing officers and making terrorist threats.

In California, Adhami twice lost his license for skipping court appearances on traffic citations but got it back in April.
