A man wanted for allegedly hitting a woman in Littlerock on Sunday was pulled over by local sheriff’s deputies on Highway 14 and held at gunpoint near Newhall, according to deputies in both Santa Clarita and Palmdale.

Between the time of the alleged attack and the arrest, deputies from both stations worked together to have a suspect identified, tracked and in custody within the hour.

At 12:13 p.m. Sunday, deputies in Palmdale responded to reports of a woman assaulted in Littlerock, said Deputy Jason Ames of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.

“He hit the informant and left in a black car,” he said.

Deputies alerted their counterparts in the Santa Clarita Valley about the incident, the suspect and the vehicle, including its license plate number, Ames said.

“Santa Clarita deputies spotted the license plate and pulled him over,” he said.

At 1:04 p.m., a local deputy reported the car traveling southbound on the highway at 60 miles per hour.

Three minutes later, the same deputy notified the station he was stopping the motorist a half mile south of Newhall Avenue.

The man was arrested at gunpoint at the side of the highway, said Lt. Mark Hershey.

“He was wanted for domestic violence,” Hershey said.

Palmdale deputies drove immediately to Santa Clarita, picked up the suspect and drove back to Palmdale where he was placed in custody.

A 26-year-old Littlerock man is charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.
