Rock superstars have donated autographed musical memorabilia to a special e-Bay auction to benefit a sheriff's deputy stationed in Santa Clarita Superior Court, and battling leukemia.

Members of Van Halen, Rush, KISS, Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver are among the contributors to the benefit auction for Deputy Robert "Bobby" Corrales, who needs to raise $30,000 to cover expenses not covered by insurance.

Deputy Corrales is a 24-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He began his law enforcement career with the Los Angeles County Marshal's Department and became a deputy sheriff when the Marshal's Department merged into the Sheriff's Department in 1994. Corrales is currently assigned to the Santa Clarita Court.

Bidders have until Monday, March 2 to participate in the benefit auction.

Bonus I Deputy John Maio and Deputy Mike Ascolese, who organized the fundraiser, provided some additional background on their fellow deputy and how they scored the donated items:

"In April 2008 Bobby was on a vacation cruise to Mexico with his wife and some Departmental friends. He became extremely ill during the trip and the ship's doctor was unable to diagnose the situation. Bobby had to be flown back to the United States immediately. The cost of that trip was $30,000, which not covered by his medical insurance.

"Bobby was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia after he reached UCLA Medical Center. The only cure for him is a bone marrow transplant, but finding a suitable match with his ethnic background has proven incredibly difficult. His family members are not even a match. Bobby has had to undergo chemotherapy multiple times, and his battle is ongoing.

"To raise money for Bobby and his family to help cover expenses, Bonus I Deputy John Maio and Deputy Mike Ascolese contacted friends of theirs in the music business. Several of rock ‘n roll's royalty immediately stepped up to donate autographed musical instruments that would be auctioned off on e-Bay.

"Alex Van Halen donated a brass snare drum from his personal drum kit, which he signed. He also donated a drum head which had been signed by Alex, Edward and Wolfgang Van Halen.

"Neil Peart from Rush sent in an autographed DW drum head. Neil notoriously avoids autographing anything, but did it for this worthy cause.

"KISS's Paul (Star Child) Stanley gave an autographed Silvertone guitar.

"Slash, Matt Sorum, Duff McKagan and Dave Kushner from Velvet Revolver each signed a Epiphone guitar that had been donated to the cause by Guitar Center's Dave Weiderman. Matt Sorum also donated a pair of autographed drum sticks and a drum head which he signed and drew a caricature of himself on.

"Each of these autographed musical items is now for sale on e-Bay. The auctions end Monday, March 2, 2009, so please get your bids in quickly. Of the proceeds, 90% will go directly to Deputy Corrales and 10% will be donated to the T.J. Martell Foundation, which is trying to find cures for leukemia, cancer and HIV/AIDS."
