William Carl Corbett, 71, owner of Copper Eagle Patrol & Security in Santa Clarita, passed away on Wednesday, a family member reported Friday.
Corbett bought the security company in 1987 and spent the last two decades building the business, said daughter Maura Corbett.
While running the company as its chief and CEO, Corbett also earned a number of awards and praise from various venues such as Concerts in the Park and the Michael Hoefflin Foundation, Maura Corbett said.
“Bill had a love for Santa Clarita, for its people and its beautiful environment, and so selected our city as a place to raise his family and build his business,” she said.
When he was diagnosed with a terminal illness last year, Corbett planned for the future of his company and the employees who would succeed him, his daughter said.
Survivors have requested donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in lieu of flowers.
There will be a wake at Eternal Valley on Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Real Life Church on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
