Miss SCV Scholarship Pageant will be held Saturday at the PAC

Event will feature 46 contestants competing for queen and princess crowns in six categories

The 34th annual Miss Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Pageant will be held Saturday at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center. The Queen’s Social will be held at 5 p.m. with the pageant starting at 6 p.m.

The event will feature 46 contestants competing for queen and princess titles in six categories.

Scholarships and prizes will also be awarded. Winner receive: Miss SCV $5,000 scholarship; Miss Teen SCV $2,500 scholarship; Jr. Miss SCV $1,000 scholarship; Little Miss SCV $750 scholarship. Ms. SCV and Mrs. SCV will receive a custom gold and diamond crown ring.

"Now in its 34th year the Miss Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Program is a community service-based program for young women ages 8 to adult married women," said Mardi Rivetti, pageant director. "Over a thousand young ladies have come through the Miss SCV Program."

Contestants perform community service and the Miss SCV royalty can be seen selling raffle tickets at community nonprofit fundraisers, in the annual Fourth of July Parade and at business grand openings.

"They have blessed this community through the years with their participation, said Rivetti. "Big thanks to the business sponsors for believing in this wonderful program; the Miss SCV Official Title Sponsor, Jennifer Gerard of Whitening Lightning, Nissan of Valencia and Eternal Valley. You have all been gracious and generous with your support for these young ladies. This is not just another beauty pageant but a gathering of some of the finest young women in Santa Clarita seeking the opportunity to served their community and earn college scholarships. This program builds an amazing resume for college acceptance."

Contestants will be judged on personal interview, fitness wear, evening wear, ballgown and speech.

This year’s pageant will feature elaborate backdrops and increased production values, said Rivetti.

Rivetti said the pageant will open with the Queen of Hearts scene featuring "everyone in beautiful regal costumes."

The Hip Hop Dance Troupe from College of the Canyons will perform again this year, said Rivetti.

The contestants will also perform a hip hop number choreographed by Danielle Moore.

The Carousel Ballgown scene was choreographed by Hailee Bowen.

Suzanne Von Schaack has trained the contestants with modeling on the runway.

Tony Farrell will also perform his signature "crooner songs."

Retiring Miss SCV royalty will also say their good-byes: Miss SCV Amanda Larsson-Dally, Ms. SCV Brigitte Prouty, Mrs. SCV Amanda Wasvary Ransdel, Miss Teen SCV Madison Summers, Jr. Miss SCV Brooke Dawson and Little Miss SCV Alexandria Salazar.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.canyonspac.com priced $25 to $45.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Children age 8 and older are welcome. Attire is semi formal with women wearing long gowns or a cocktail dress and men wearing a coat and tie.
