Four people have put their names into the hat for the open seat on the Santa Clarita Arts Commission, according to a city official.

The four candidates are Chris Donald, Janis Doukakis, Ron Gallmeier and Patti Rasmussen, according to Interim City Clerk Arminé Chaparyan.

One of those four will be appointed Tuesday to fill the vacancy on the commission created by Paul Strickland, who resigned in May to take a consulting job in Florida.

Per city policy, the City Council member who appointed Strickland to the Arts Commission is charged with nominating a replacement. In this case, it is Councilwoman Laurene Weste who will make the call during Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

The full City Council will then vote on the appointment. Whoever is chosen will serve out the remainder of Strickland’s commission term, which expires July 31, 2014.

The newly appointed commissioner is expected to be seated at the next Arts Commission meeting on June 13.

Strickland’s departure left seats open on both the commission and the William S. Hart Union High School District school board. The board filled that vacancy Wednesday by selecting Chris Fall to serve out the remainder of Strickland’s term, which expires in November.
