Santa Clarita offers bus service to the beach

Starting this weekend, the city of Santa Clarita will offer weekend transit bus services to and from Santa Monica Beach, officials said today.

The transit service will run from Saturday through the end of August. Buses will depart Santa Clarita beginning at 8:40 a.m. and arrive in Santa Monica beginning at 10:30 a.m.

On Saturdays, residents can catch the bus from Canyon Country Park at 8:40 a.m., Santa Clarita Park at 8:40 a.m., the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Solamint Road at 8:45 a.m., the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Shangri-La Drive at 8:50 a.m., the Santa Clarita Metrolink Station at 8:50 a.m., the Via Princessa Metrolink Station at 8:55 a.m., the Cinema Drive Park and Ride at 8:55 a.m. and the McBean Regional Transit Center at 9:05 a.m.

On Sundays, residents can travel from Canyon Country Park at 8:40 a.m., the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Solamint Road at 8:45 a.m., the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Shangri-La Drive at 8:50 a.m., the Via Princessa Metrolink Station at 8:55 a.m., the Santa Clarita Metrolink Station at 9:10 a.m., the Cinema Drive Park and Ride at 9:15 a.m. and the McBean Regional Transit Center at 9:25 a.m.

Return trips will depart from Santa Monica at 3:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

Fares for the bus are $3 each way for children and adults, and $1.50 each way for seniors and those with disabilities.
