avley, D-Agoura Hills, that would place new regulations on the process of hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as “fracking,” took another step toward reality Wednesday when the state Senate voted to approve the bill.

Members of the Senate voted 27-11 to approve Pavley’s bill, Senate Bill 4, which would require companies to disclose where fracking is taking place, as well as what chemicals are used in the process.

Fracking is the process of using a high-speed injection of water, chemicals and sand to fracture underground rock, freeing trapped natural gas deposits.
