Members of the Santa Clarita City Council voted unanimously to award a $152,028 contract to purchase, install and support a new telephone system for the city’s Transit Maintenance Facility.

The facility regularly receives more than 20,000 phone calls a month, according to council documents, and also serves as the city’s secondary emergency operation center in case City Hall is damaged or inaccessible.

The contract, which was awarded to the IntelesysOne company on Tuesday night, could reach a total value of $198,717 when contingency funds are taken into account.

Funding for the project comes from the federal government through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The Transit Maintenance Facility is located at 28250 Constellation Road.
