The lawyer representing a Los Angeles Police Department officer accused of molesting two young girls he allegedly lured to his Castaic home has fired back at accusers.

Defense attorney David D. Diamond, representing accused 28-year-old LAPD officer Miguel Angel Schiappapietra Jr., sent out an email to reporters Tuesday — just days before the officer’s preliminary hearing — challenging the allegations made against his client.

The email reads: “Officer Schiappapietra has no record of criminal wrongdoing nor any history of allegations of inappropriate contact with minors.

“With wild allegations already having gone public, let me be clear: there are no claims of penetration, oral copulation or molestation, in any way, shape or form,” Diamond wrote in his email.

“Once the facts come out,” he concluded. “It will be clear that everyone rushed to judgment.”

Schiappapietra Jr. was arrested on the morning of May 18 after two girls, both under the age of 10, told detectives he had sexually molested them, according to prosecutors with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Schiappapietra was initially scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court to be arraigned on two felony counts of committing a lewd act on a child under 14 years of age.

Instead, the six-year veteran of the LAPD appeared in a courtroom downtown and entered a plea of not guilty to the charges, said Jane Robison, spokeswoman for District Attorney’s office.

Prosecutors will ask that his bail be set at $200,000. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in state prison.

Schiappapietra is set to appear for a preliminary hearing Thursday. During that hearing, prosecutors will present evidence in the case, and the defense can respond, after which the judge will decide if the case should go to trial.
