A second young woman hurt in a three-vehicle traffic collision in Valencia late Saturday night suffered injuries more serious than first believed, said the traffic deputy investigating the crash.

According to a traffic report compiled by deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, the young woman suffered a broken arm and a lacerated spleen, said Detective Travis Kelly.

Michael Guebara, 32, is charged with a felony count of driving under the influence of alcohol, he said.

“He ran a red light and hit two cars making a left-hand turn from the other direction,” Travis said. “As a result of the crash there were two patients.”

At 10:48 p.m. on Saturday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of a traffic collision with people injured near the intersection of Newhall Ranch Road and Copper Hill Drive, said Inspector Bernard Peters.

“The collision involved three vehicles, and deputies (with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station) were there,” Peters said Monday.

According to one woman who contacted The Signal, the crash involved a young man and two young women.

She informed The Signal Sunday that one of the injured women was rushed to the hospital with “several internal injuries” and broken bones.

Paramedics took one patient to the hospital from the crash at 11:20 p.m., inspector Peters told The Signal.

The second woman went to the hospital on her own, Travis said Tuesday.

“Only one went to the hospital by ambulance,” Travis said. “The other went on her own when she found out her injuries were more substantial than suspected.”
