Senior Alexandra Skorniakoff beat out more than 30 dancers from across the region to take first for her solo “Let it Be.” Senior Kirsten Lynskey also finished strong with a fifth-place finish.
Valencia took first place in Large Jazz, Medium Dance, Small Lyrical and Novelty; second place for Intermediate, Large Lyrical and Officer’s Dance; and third place for Small Jazz. Three of Valencia’s dancers took first place for their solos: Chelsea Raff, Chase Lehner and Brooke Radding.
Last year, Valencia won back-to-back national championships in Large Jazz at the U.S. National Championship competition in Anaheim.
The first place in Large Jazz this year continued in this vein with the group’s large dance “Candy Man.”
Valencia’s next competition is Saturday at USA Regionals at Saugus High School.
