What will you buy at the auction?

The weather looks to be more reasonable this week, but with a slight warming trend that might make Saturday’s Boys & Girls Club Benefit Auction a tad on the warmish side. Here’s hoping the evenings stay cool!

Auction catalogue

I’m always anxious to see what goodies the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley has lined up each year to offer auction guests. This year looks like a special year indeed!

Concerts

Among the sold out concert tickets the auction will offer (check both live and silent auctions) are tickets to see Depeche Mode at the Staples Center, One Direction at the Staples Center, Taylor Swift Red Tour at the Staples Center, Justin Bieber at the Staples Center, Cyndi Lauper at The Greek and Steve Miller Band and The Doobie Brothers under the stars at The Greek. Other concerts include Willie Nelson and family at the Hollywood Bowl, Pat Benatar and Cheap Trick, the Bruno Mars Moonshine Jungle Tour and the Jonas Brothers live tour. There are other concerts as well.

Feeling generous?

If anyone is feeling exceptionally generous I’d love to have the Cowboys vs. Broncos tickets! Imagine! Sitting on the 45-yard line and watching the Cowboys and the Broncos! I say, it never hurts to ask! But whoever buys that package, keep me in mind if it turns out you can’t make the Oct. 6 kickoff! (Hey, a girl can dream can’t she?)

If I win the lottery

Other items that caught my fancy: Gallia Glassware from the Piru Mansion, a seven-night getaway to St. Kitts Island, an ocean or harbor cruise aboard the Valkyrie with Tom and Anita Petersen, (two of my favorite people), that adorable 12-week old Maltese puppy and the always fabulous Head Table for the 2014 auction. Here’s hoping I win the lottery before Saturday!

Magic Mountain steps up

Magic Mountain has stepped up in a huge way to support the Boys & Girls Club auction. Among the items donated area private picnic at Hurricane Harbor, a VIP package for eight and the be the first to ride "Full Throttle," Epic coaster connoisseur tour for 25, Fright Fest VIP package for eight, Super Hero birthday party for 10 and a taste of Six Flags for six (who can resist starting the tour with fresh maple and bacon funnel cakes?).

Kudos to all the donors

I know it’s still pretty rough out there... I admire all the businesses and individuals who have dug deep and offered up these amazing auction items to help one of the most important nonprofits in the SCV. The Boys & Girls Club of SCV changes lives, I’ve witnessed it with my own eyes. There is nothing more important than keeping our kids safe — and out of trouble.

Sports/music collectables

There are also some amazing sports and music memorabilia offered at this year’s auction including: an autographed Blake Griffin jersey, Gibson guitar hero signed by Aerosmith, a jersey signed by Magic Johnson, a batting helmet worn by former Dodger Mike Piazza and autographed, a Hard Rock autographed Fender guitar and a Ray Lewis autographed jersey.

Rock on!

I’ve been told that this year’s auction should be an amazing party with a live band and all the classic rock that you can enjoy! That’s always the best part of the auction, the entertainment, I’m glad to see the auction returning to its fun, party roots!

Get your tickets now

There’s still time to purchase auction tickets, which will be held indoors in a building in the Valencia Industrial Park at Avenue Scott and Avenue Rockefeller. Visit www.scvbgc.org to purchase tickets or to view all the auction items in the catalogue.

Unique items

There are also some amazing and unique items up for bid. In addition to the Gallia Glassware once owned by Ruth and Scott Newhall (the late one-time owners of The Signal newspaper) you can also bid on Jersey Mike’s subs for a year, Dodger dugout tickets, some beautiful diamond jewelry as well as a string of exquisite pearls, three course wine pairing for eight, a VIP set visit and lunch on "the Judge" with Robert Downey Jr., a private and exclusive Dodger suite, five tons of real snow in your front yard, Hyatt Chef’s table for eight, or spend the day on the set of the "Young and the Restless" with Genoa City hearthrob Ignacio Serricchio. Oh my!

Silent auction

There are hundreds of silent auction items, too. There is simply something for everyone!
