More than 120 of the Santa Clarita Valley’s movers and shakers learned about the importance of water Tuesday during a luncheon at the Valley Industry Association of Santa Clarita.

Ed Colley, a member of the Castaic Lake Water Agency’s board of directors, provided luncheon guests an overview of the local wholesale water agency and ongoing efforts to provide reliable drinking water for the valley.

Colley fielded a number of questions about current controversial issues such as the agency’s recent purchase of the Valencia Water Company and ongoing efforts by the local sanitation district to reduce chloride concentration in its effluent discharged into the Santa Clara River.
