Capt. Paul Becker offers a moment of silence for all fallen Santa Clarita Valley Deputies prior to the Torch Run.

Close to three dozen local sheriff’s deputies walked and cycled in honor of their fallen fellow officers Saturday.

“I rode my bicycle,” said participating Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Monday.

“Others were either bicycling or running,” he said, describing the annual event as a success.

Throughout the month of May, Santa Clarita deputies will participate in several memorial events in remembrance of fallen comrades at home and abroad. They are paying personal tribute to all the law enforcement officers who have given their life in the line of duty and their families who have lost their sons, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers or other loved ones.

On Saturday, Captain Paul Becker received the torch, held a moment of silence in Stevenson Ranch and carried the torch along the first of five, five-mile torch runs inside the Santa Clarita Valley, Dubin said.
