Charles, Holloway guest at Black History Month mixer

Signal Staff Writer Brian Charles and California State University, Northridge Pan African Studios Professor Joseph E. Holloway are the guest speakers at Thursday's third annual Black History Month Celebration and networking mixer.

Hosted by the Santa Clarita Valley Black Business Committee, the event runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the El Torito Mexican Grill, 27510 The Old Road, Valencia 91355.

Admission is free. Chips, salsa and parking are free. Cocktails, appetizers and dinner are available at "happy hour" prices.

The first 15 guests will receive a free print of The Los Angeles Times' Jan. 20, 2009 edition, "Obama's Inauguration Day."

There will also be a raffle and prizes.

Charles will discuss his trip to Washington, D.C., in January to cover the Obama inauguration for The Signal newspaper and The-Signal.com Web site.
