Miss SCV Pageant contestants sought

Earn a $5,000 scholarship for Miss SCV, other scholarships awarded for other titleholders, as well

The Miss Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Pageant will celebrate its 34th year with a pageant to be held at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 15.

Contestants are still being sought for the pageant which will award a $5,000 scholarship to the 34th Miss Santa Clarita Valley.

Additional titles and scholarships are awarded to the Miss Teen SCV, Little Miss SCV, Ms. SCV and Mrs. SCV.

Miss SCV contestants should be between the ages of 18 and 25.

Miss Teen SCV contestants should be between the ages of 14 to 17. The Miss Teen SCV winner will earn a $2,500 scholarship.

Little Miss SCV contestants should be age 8 to 13.

Girls and women participating in the Miss SCV Scholarship program each complete up to 300 hours of community service each year.

"This program has proven to build self-esteem, open doors of opportunity and build exceptional resumes for college acceptance," said Mardi Rivetti, Miss SCV Scholarship Pageant program director.

Rivetti said the pageant training workshops will begin soon with sessions on public speaking, model’s walk and comportment, personal grooming and interview technique.

"More than a thousand women have come through the Miss SCV Scholarship Program in the past 33 years," said Rivetti. "You see them now as school teachers, interns, Santa Clarita city leaders as well as exceptional parents."

Rivetti said the entry fee for the pageant is $100 (plus sponsor fee). The deadline to enter is May 19.

The Miss Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Pageant will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center.
