China Exchange program to hold fundraiser

Saugus High School's China Exchange program will hold a fundraiser from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at BJ's restaurant, 24320 Town Center Drive. Anyone who eats at the restaurant during those times and presents a flier will be helping the program. A raffle drawing will be held following the fundraiser.

Saugus High has a sister school exchange program with GaoXin No. 1 High School in Xi'an, China. Every fall, five Chinese sophomores and their teacher/chaperone come experience the United States by spending a semester at Saugus High. Each summer, up to 10 Saugus students visit Xi'an to live with Chinese families and attend school there.

The program has received no funding from the Hart district this year, and needs donations to keep the cost to the students as low as possible. Raffle tickets and flyers will be available outside BJ's Monday evening.

For information, call Patty Stephenson at Saugus High School at (661) 297-3900, Ext. 1301.
