West Ranch outfielder Tony Slauson verbally committed to Cal State Northridge earlier this month, according to Wildcats head coach Casey Burrill.

Slauson is a two-year varsity player and was a 2012 All-Foothill League and All-Santa Clarita Valley honorable mention.

He is batting .329 with 17 RBIs this season.

“CSUN is getting an excellent hitter and outfielder,” Burrill said. “Tony will no doubt help the Matadors right away. He has put the time into the game of baseball to be successful. His happy go lucky personality is infectious and will be missed by the Wildcats next year. Tony is a solid student and will thrive at Northridge.”

Slauson was a key cog in last season’s Foothill League championship squad.

If the Wildcats beat Saugus today, they will win their second in a row.
