Members of the Santa Clarita Valley Rotary Club met Wednesday to paste 700 book plates into into books they donated to Santa Clarita Valley-area after-school programs.

"I know how special it is when children receive the books," said Rotary Club member Connie Green, a former teacher who helped organize the event.

Green hand-picked the titles for the book give-away. Club members, who got together Wedmesday for their regular meeting at Marie Callender's, also pasted book plates in the 700 books before donation.
