Miami Marlins infielder Chris Valaika, left, watches as San Diego Padres first baseman Yonder Alonso swings his bat prior to a baseball game in San Diego on Tuesday.

Hart High graduate and Miami Marlins infielder Chris Valaika will miss the next four to six weeks of the season after fracturing his left wrist Tuesday night in a game against the San Diego Padres, the Associated Press reported.

Valaika was injured when San Diego’s Yonder Alonso tried to steal second base Tuesday night and the Marlins infielder’s wrist bent back as he extended to catch the throw from catcher Miguel Olivo.

He ended up fracturing the tip of his left radius.

The Marlins are set to start a three-games series with the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on Friday.

It was expected to be a big homecoming for Valaika, who was batting .219 with one home run and nine RBIs in 22 games for the Marlins.
