Canyon Country West Crime Report: assault and arson among reported cases

This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:

(1) Aggravated Assault, (1) Residential Burglary, (1) Attempted Burglary, (1) Commercial Burglary,
(1) Attempted Commercial Burglary, (1) Attempted Vehicle Burglary, (1) Theft from an Unlocked Vehicle,
(1) Grand Theft, (2) Petty Thefts, (2) Incidents of Shoplifting and (1) Arson.

An attempted residential burglary occurred near the 27800 block of Rosamond Drive. Two white males broke a window on the side of the victim’s house and attempted to enter. The victim, who was in an upstairs bedroom heard a noise, ran downstairs and chased the suspects away.

On Wednesday, 05-01-2013, a commercial burglary occurred near the 27100 block of Sierra Highway. An unknown suspect broke into a storage area and took several gallons of used cooking grease. A similar incident of grand theft occurred near the 19300 block of Soledad Canyon Road the same night. An unknown suspect removed the plastic valves to containers housing new and used cooking oil and took approximately 950 pounds of grease.

A shoplift burglary occurred near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Drive. A male suspect walked out of the location after failing to pay for several items he concealed in his pants. The suspect was detained by loss prevention personnel and subsequently arrested by responding deputies.

Deputies working in the Canyon Country West area made several arrests last week. Arrests included charges of narcotics, battery, weapons and commercial burglary.
