College of the Canyons is hosting the second of two job and career fairs at its Canyon Country campus Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The job fair is free and open to the public.

As unemployment numbers go down, more employers are asking the Santa Clarita college to post jobs, said Anthony Michaelides, director of career services at COC.

The first job fair attracted nearly 70 employers and hundreds of job-seekers at the college’s Valencia campus on April 24.

Wednesday’s job fair has recruiters attending from a wide range of career fields — banking, health and home care, manufacturing, military, insurance, retail, education, government and law enforcement, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

About 1,000 people turned out during the event held two weeks ago, Michaelides said.

There are also two workshops offered Wednesday. They are “How to be proactive in your job search” at 11:30 a.m. and “First impressions: How to nail any interview” at 12:30 p.m.

Co-sponsored by Signal Multimedia, the job and career fair helps employers, students and the public come together in one location.

The event will be held in Room 202-A at the Canyon Country campus, 17200 Sierra Highway. A map of the campus is at www.canyons.edu/offices/PIO/keyinfo/CanyonCountryCampusMap.asp.

A list of the companies participating and workshops offered at each career fair can be viewed at www.canyons.edu/offices/careercenter/SpecialEventsSpring2013.asp.
