Arson is suspected in a Sunday morning fire in which a tractor was found inside a burning shed, emergency response officials said.
Shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department received a 911 call from someone reporting black smoke seen coming from a metal shed on Santa Clara Street, at the foot of Oak Avenue, a spokesman said.
Once on the scene, firefighters found a tractor inside a shed on fire, he said.
“They found a vehicle inside the shed,” he said.
“They put it out in 10 minutes,” he said referring to the fire. “The sheriff is checking for possible arson.”
No one was hurt in the fire, said Fire Department Supervisor Melanie Flores.
According to Sgt. Rich Nagler of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, fire officials suspect the fire may have been deliberately set.
He described the vehicle inside the burning structure as a large commercial tractor.
“The fire captain believe sit may have been arson,” Nagler said.
“As a result, our arson/explosives team is now investigating.”
