How to ease the shock of unemployment

I know a lot of things can be done to ease the shock of job loss. One thing I have been thinking of that surely would help and at least show the people that the politicians are sincere.

My first suggestion is to start at the top and take all the credit cards from all the politicians and officials, and they can submit a bill for whatever their official business is and let it be examined and approved or rejected.

I also would like to see all the cars taken away and let them buy a car and drive it themselves; no more chauffeurs unless they want to pay for it themselves.
It should be the same with all county and city officials. What does anyone think of the idea?

It would be a start, anyway.
