Greetings!

One of the best aspects of living in Santa Clarita is the wide range of fun and healthy activities available, especially in the spring and summer months.  As the weather starts to warm up, there is a lot to do here.  Whether you are interested in swimming, team sports, hiking or bicycling, we’ve got the facilities and programs to get you moving and keep you healthy.

The City’s Aquatic calendar is loaded with great swim programs including group and private swim lessons, lap and recreational swim, water exercise, adult swim, and even stand up paddle boarding classes. Special aquatics introductory programs include diving, water polo and synchronized swim clinics.  Whichever class or program you choose, you will enjoy it in one of the City’s well-maintained and supervised pools located at Newhall Park, North Oaks Park, Santa Clarita Park, Valencia Glen Park, Valencia Meadows Park and the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center.

If you are looking for something for your children to do this summer, I encourage you to check out Camp Clarita.  This City-run day camp program provides a safe, fun environment that serves the recreational needs of youth in Santa Clarita.  Wee Folks Camp is for 3-4 year olds and offers youngsters the opportunity to develop social skills while making new friends.  Little Folks Camp is for 4-5 year olds and offers a creative environment for development and socialization for the preschool-aged child.  Ranger Camp is geared for 5-8 year olds and offers weekly themed programs and activities including arts and crafts, games, swimming and a weekly field trip to age-appropriate locations in Southern California.  Explorer Camp for 9-12 year olds offers sports, swimming and crafts as well as weekly field trips.  Finally, Voyager Camp for 11-15 year olds offers young teens the chance to visit Southern California hot spots such as Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal Studios and Magic Mountain, as well as one overnight camping trip.  For more information or to sign up for day camp, visit Seasons.

For that extra special birthday party, you may want to hold your next party at a City facility, or, have us bring the party to you.  The Aquatic Center, Skate Park and Activities Center are available for rental, and themed-party packages are included.  If you would like the City to bring the party to you, consider the Parkmobile, where we provide supervised sports, games, arts and crafts and more, with four themes to choose from.  For more information about how you can party with the City, call us at 661-284-1465 or visit Seasons.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to email me directly at: kstriplin@santa-clarita.com.

Best regards,
Ken Striplin
