West Ranch goes 10-0 in Foothill League play

Valencia likely to miss out on playoffs

The West Ranch Wildcats completed a season sweep through Foothill League play on Tuesday with a 3-1 win over the Valencia Vikings by scores of 22-25, 25-18, 25-17 and 26-24 at West Ranch High School.

As a result, Valencia will likely miss out on the playoffs for the first time since 1998.

The Vikings are 14-18 overall, 5-5 in Foothill play, which is fourth place and outside of the top three automatic playoff qualifiers. Under CIF rules, teams must finish with a .500 or better overall record to qualify for an at-large bid.

Andrew Dieterle led West Ranch (23-8 overall, 10-0 Foothill League) in Tuesday’s match with 17 kills, Tanner Skabelund followed with 15 kills and seven aces and Christian Cayabyab added 43 assists.

For Valencia, Kyle Ensing led with 22 kills and Logan Riley had 36 assists.

Hart 3, Canyon 0
The Hart Indians capped off their regular season with a sweep of the Canyon Cowboys by scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-16 on Tuesday at Hart High.

David Van Name had 13 kills, Tanner Tengberg recorded 12 kills and Chris LeClair dished out 32 assist for Hart (17-13, 7-3), which had already wrapped up a second-place finish in league.

Canyon finished 10-14 overall, 2-8 in the Foothill League for fifth place.

Saugus 3,
Golden Valley 0
The Saugus Centurions locked up the final automatic playoff spot after beating Golden Valley by scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-13 on Tuesday at Saugus High.

Saugus (18-8-1, 6-4) finished third in league.

Max Nua led the Centurions with 15 kills and four aces, which was followed by Tony Balzer’s seven kills and Zach Choo’s six kills.

Golden Valley ended the season 0-13 overall, 0-10 in the Foothill League.
