A Pyramid Lake boater was arrested for allegedly boating under the influence of alcohol, sheriff’s officials reported Monday.

A deputy with the Parks Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was patrolling Pyramid Lake Sunday afternoon when he saw a small fishing boat adrift on the lake, said Deputy Johnie Jones.

On closer inspection, the deputy found a man lying on a surfboard attached by a 50-foot rope to the small boat, he said.

“The deputy found a lot of beer in the boat,” Jones said.

On suspicion the boater was drunk, he gave the man a sobriety test.

“He didn’t pass the test,” Jones said.

Charged was Jace Garrett Haffey, 23, of Granada Hills.
