Forest Service Sets Open House, Smokey Bear Appearance at Acton District Office

WHO: The Forest Service will have an Open House at its Santa Clara Mojave River Ranger District office, a “green” environmentally-friendly facility. The public is invited.

WHAT: The Open House will include office and fire-station tours, displays of fire engines, water tenders and patrol vehicles, and photo opportunities with Smokey Bear. Forest personnel will have an information tent with fire-prevention and safety literature including about camp fires and cooking in Angeles National Forest. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel will also be participating.

WHEN: May 4, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE: 33708 Crown Valley Road, Acton

WHY: Community tours and displays enhance public understanding of fire safety and the Forest Service mission, including cooperatively working with county fire personnel.
