Canyon Country East crime report: Four garage burglaries reported

Canyon Country East, Zone 8, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information. Snap Shot 04/15/2013 – 04/21/2013.

This week in Canyon Country-East we had 8 Part-1 crimes. Of those reported crimes, there was 1 assault, 1 residential burglary, 4 garage burglaries, 1 larceny, and 1 vehicle burglary.

An assault occurred in the 18100 block of American Beauty Drive. During an argument, the victim was punched several times by the suspect who was holding a key between his fingers. The investigation is on-going and the suspect has not yet been identified.

A residential burglary occurred in the 27300 block of Fahren Court on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Entrance was made through a window. A PlayStation and games were stolen from the residence. A residential burglary occurred in the 17600 block of Harris Way on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. The suspect entered the open garage and stole the victim’s iPhone from an unlocked vehicle. The victim also observed damage to the main door and door leading to the garage. A garage burglary occurred in the 27300 block of Sumac Court on Monday, April 15, 2113 between 1:40 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The suspects entered the garage and stole speakers and an iPod from an unlocked vehicle. A garage burglary occurred in the 18100 block of Sundowner Way between Friday, April 19, 2013 at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. The side garage door was pried open and a Canon camera was stolen from an unlocked vehicle. A garage burglary occurred in the 18100 block of Sundowner Way between Friday, April 19, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. A wallet and a Nintendo game were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

A petty theft occurred at the Vons store. The suspect entered the location and stole alcohol.

A vehicle burglary occurred in the 27900 block of Solamint Road on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 12:15 a.m. The victim discovered the rear passenger window of her vehicle smashed, but nothing was taken.
Five arrests were made by proactive deputies for various narcotics violations, assaults and public intoxication.

There has been in increase in burglaries where items are being stolen from vehicles that are left unlocked parked in the garage. ALWAYS lock your garage doors and vehicles.

Make sure to always park in well-lit areas and be cognizant of your surroundings. If you see any suspicious activity either close to your home or while you are out shopping, call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
