Wilk’s bill offers improvement in higher education

Congratulations to Scott Wilk on his success in gaining the approval of the Higher Education Committee of the Assembly for AB 806.

With re-prioritizing the spending in community colleges for student counseling, the cost of an education should be reduced for the students by eliminating wasted classes in the pursuit of a degree.

When my son attended college he was guided by a very aggressive and creative counselor who was able to apply both the AP and community college classes he attended in high school toward two bachelor degrees.

He completed four years of university studies after high school and graduated with two bachelor degrees and a minor, all thanks to that counselor and a lot of hard work on his part.

Should this bill pass in the Legislature and be signed into law, Wilk will have made a mark in his freshman term, and he will have kept his promise to focus on education using his experience as a former trustee of College of the Canyons.
