A truck fully engulfed in flames shut down two lanes of Interstate 5 today for more than an hour near Smokey Bear Road, emergency response officials said.

About 2 p.m. Thursday, officers with the California Highway Patrol received reports of a big rig on fire in the northbound lanes just north of Smokey Bear Road, said Sgt. Kevin Pack of the California Highway Patrol.

“The fire was contained to the cab,” he said.

Firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service were dispatched to the incident and, when they arrived, found a fully-engulfed truck, a Fire Department spokesman said.

Firefighters also reported finding no evidence the fire ignited brush near the roadway as feared, he said.
No one was hurt in the incident, he said.

The fire and the efforts to extinguish it closed two northbound lanes of the interstate for about an hour, Pack said.
