Megan Dawe, a 2012 Saugus High graduate and freshman at New York University, was named the school’s female Freshman Athlete of the Year, the school’s athletic department announced last week.

The honor comes on the heels of Dawe, the 2012 All-Santa Clarita Valley Girls Basketball Player of the Year, earning the Rookie of the Year award from the University Athletic Association.

She was also named to the All-UAA second team after leading NYU in scoring (12.8 points per game), field goal percentage (.522) and blocks (13) this season, and was second in rebounding (163).

Dawe will be honored by the school at a ceremony on May 4, when the school will also hold its annual NYU Varsity Athlete Alumni Reunion and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
