Three motorists reported property stolen — or had their cars vandalized in an attempted burglary — while their cars were parked at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, according to the incident log maintained by deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

On Wednesday, shortly before 1:30 p.m., a 65-year-old Saugus woman called local deputies after finding a small window shattered in her 2006 Chevy sedan.

“The victim told me she had a laptop computer, an Apple iPhone, and a black bag located in plain view in the front passenger compartment of the vehicle,” a deputy wrote in his report.

“Although none of the items were taken, it’s reasonable to believe they were the cause for the attempted burglary,” he said.

Also on Wednesday, sometime between 8 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., thieves stole a $100 purse and a wallet containing $870 after breaking into a 2012 red Fiat parked at the hospital.

Hiding the property didn’t help.

“She wrapped her purse in a brown blanket and had it laying on her passenger seat,” the deputy reported. “The suspect smashed her passenger window with an unknown item and took the mentioned items.”

The largest property loss happened in the hospital parking lot on Tuesday between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., according to deputies.

Burglars “entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her work laptop,” deputies reported.

“The victim stated she went to Henry Mayo hospital for a medical problem she was having. She stated she was very sick and forgot to lock her vehicle.”
