Hart and Valencia boys tennis both took care of business on Thursday.

Now they’re set for the Foothill League’s main event in boys tennis of 2013.

The Hart Indians defeated a tough Golden Valley Grizzlies team at Golden Valley 13-5 on Thursday.

With Valencia defeating Canyon 18-0 on Thursday, the undefeated in league Vikings host the Indians on Tuesday with an opportunity to claim the Foothill championship outright.

Valencia, having won 69 straight Foothill matches, will go in as a very heavy favorite.

The Vikings dispatched of Hart 15-3 on March 28.

“They know how Valencia is. If they play their best and Valencia’s a little off, we have a shot,” said Hart head coach Chris Mansfield. “Valencia’s very strong.”

Hart’s Thursday win, though, can’t be ignored.

Golden Valley (8-7 overall, 3-5 Foothill League) has some firepower, despite the fact that the Grizzlies are sinking in the Foothill League.

That firepower is at the top of its singles lineup with Brandon Yu and Brian Park.

Hart (13-5, 7-1) was able to keep Yu to just one set win and Park had two.

The Indians benefitted from the play of singles player Elliot Miller, who won all three of his sets.

Michael Lange and Sam Delgado led the doubles, sweeping all three sets and losing only three games.

Also sweeping was the team of Luke Distad and Tommy LaBat.

With Golden Valley’s loss and West Ranch’s 15-3 win over Saugus (7-10, 1-7) (which got two set wins from Grant Vaziri), the Wildcats (5-3 Foothill) now own a two-match lead over the Grizzlies.

Both teams meet at Golden Valley on Tuesday.
