Five days after the dual track and field meet began between the Canyon Cowboys and Saugus Centurions girls teams, Saugus came from behind to win 69-67 on Tuesday at Saugus High School.

Due to a dispute in the triple jump at Thursday’s Foothill League meet at Saugus, the two teams decided to re-do the event on Tuesday afternoon.

Canyon came into the day leading the meet 67-60, but the Centurions swept the top three triple jump spots to win the final nine available points.

Saugus’ MacKinzie Moncidias won with a leap of 33 feet, 10 inches, followed by Rachel Eaton’s second place mark of 33-0 1/2 and Katie Mohrhoff’s third-place jump of 32-7 1/2.

All three marks were personal bests, as were Canyon’s three jumps.

Leigh Anne Dones (32-5 3/4) took fourth place, Lindsey Jakeman (31-4 1/4) was fifth and Sophia Taylor (30-11) was sixth.

As a result, the Saugus girls improve to 3-0 in league and the Canyon girls fall to 2-1. Both teams are back in action in Foothill League dual meets Thursday, when the Centurions host West Ranch and the Cowboys travel to face Golden Valley.
