Canyon Country Little League renames its playing field Saturday in honor of longtime supporters Sheldon and Janella Wigdor, who will throw out the first pitch after dedication ceremonies.

The organization's board of directors approved renaming Field #3 "Wigdor Field" in honor of the couple, active in the league as dedicated volunteers for more than 20 years.

Ceremonies begin at 8:45 a.m. and games last all day.

"This is a really big deal for us," said Rusty Rightmyer, vice president of baseball for the league, who invites the community to attend.

The Amgen Tour of California cyclists will race past the field between 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. on their way out of the Santa Clarita Valley en route to Pasadena, the league's Web site notes.
