Sheriff Lee Baca joined Santa Clarita Valley residents Monday morning at Tournament Players Club for a golf tournament to raise funds for the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation of Los Angeles County.

Headed by Sheriff Lee Baca, the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation is made up of seven different programs — STAR, VIDA, START, BEAR, 999 for Kids, SHARE and the Youth Activities League — with locations throughout the county.

The foundation focuses on providing children with safe facilities, structured programs and tools to help them thrive and succeed in life.

“The Sheriff’s Youth Foundation relies on the strength of a network of committed individuals to carry out its mission,” said John March, director of operations for the foundation and co-chairman of Monday’s tournament.
Sponsors of the tournament, dubbed the Sheriff’s Shootout, paid $250 to $50,000 to support the event.
