Nissan of Valencia will hold a drawing April 22 for a new car that will go free to one lucky Hart district student.

The yearly drawing, which will also include three $1,000 scholarships, is a way for the car dealership to reward students’ diligence in school, a spokesman said.

Students qualify for the drawing if they are 11th or 12th graders and have:

- 97 percent or higher attendance record;

- A 2.0 or higher grade point average;

- No out-of-school suspensions or expulsions for the school year.

The program is open to William S. Hart Union High School district students from Academy of the Canyons, Bowman, Canyon, Golden Valley, Hart, Saugus, Valencia and West Ranch high schools and Sequoia Charter School.

The dates of the program run Oct. 22, 2012, through March 22, 2013. Students who meet the criteria are automatically entered to win.

The drawing for the new 2013 Nissan Versa — along with additional prizes — will be held April 22 at 6 p.m. at College of the Canyons Cougar Stadium. Gates open at 5 p.m., and entertainment is planned.

The dealership will also donate money directly to all schools that participate.

Winners must be present to win, and parents are encouraged to attend the drawing with their children.
