Assembly Bill 737, which would require the state of California to apply for designation as a testing site for unmanned aircraft known as drones, cleared the Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy with a unanimous vote Tuesday, bringing it one step closer to a vote on the floor of the state Legislature.

Assemblyman Steve Fox, D-Palmdale, who introduced the bill, has said this designation would create additional manufacturing jobs in the state.

Fox is the representative for California’s 36th Assembly District, which includes northern areas of Saugus and portions of Canyon Country.
