The City of Santa Clarita will host its sixth Planning Commission Study Session on the Draft Noise Element today at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall's Century Room.

Community members are invited to attend the meeting, where City staff will discuss issues pertaining to the Joint Valleywide General Plan, One Valley One Vision (OVOV). The Draft document is available at www.santa-clarita.com/vgp.

The Study Session will cover noise issues in the OVOV planning area, health effects of noise, an analysis of existing and future noise environment and planning strategies to minimize noise impacts. City staff urges residents to attend the meeting to provide the necessary feedback required to make One Valley One Vision a success.

The OVOV Study Sessions are dedicated to continuing public participation as well as leading discussions on the draft elements of OVOV. This Planning Commission Study Session will present and discuss technical noise element information to its decision makers and inform the community how land use is planned.

Project consultants will be in attendance and County staff members from the OVOV team have also been invited.

"The Draft Noise Element Study Sessions are necessary to ensure our residents are enjoying the high quality of life associated with Santa Clarita during this transitional period," said councilmember Laurene Weste. "The meetings ensure that community members take an active role in the One Valley One Vision program."

The City also produced a series of informative videos on One Valley One Vision, available on www.YouTube.com. The series is designed to inform the community exactly what OVOV is - as well as what it isn't. Residents can type "One Valley One Vision" into YouTube's search field and the City's videos will be listed for review.

One Valley One Vision is a joint effort between the County of Los Angeles, the City of Santa Clarita and Valley residents and businesses to create a single vision and guidelines for the future growth of Santa Clarita and the preservation of natural resources.

City Hall is located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard. For more information on One Valley One Vision, or its Draft Elements, contact Jason Smisko, City Senior Planner and OVOV Project Manager at 661-255-4306 or visit www.santa-clarita.com/vgp.
