The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation is scheduled to ask the Santa Clarita City Council for three years of renewed funding during Tuesday night’s meeting.

If granted, the commitment would bring the city’s investment in the agency to $1.2 million since 2009.

Members of the Santa Clarita City Council are scheduled to vote on a three-year agreement that would allot $200,000 to the Economic Development Corporation each of the next three fiscal years. The recommended action is for the council to approve the funding commitment.

The city has contributed $200,000 to the corporation each of the last three fiscal years, as well.

The SCV Economic Development Corporation, a partnership involving local businesses, the city and Los Angeles County, was envisioned as an agency that would attracting new business and industry to the Santa Clarita Valley.

Los Angeles County also contributes $200,000 a year.

That public money has been buttressed by other private contributions.

In addition to the EDC funding request, the City Council agenda Tuesday calls for a presentation on the master plan for a Santa Clarita conference center.

The Santa Clarita City Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday in City Council Chambers, 23920 Valencia Blvd.
