Graffiti may look like nothing more than dirty scrawl on a wall to some, but one Canyon Country resident is set to give a crash course in deciphering the calling cards of local tagging crews.

Spencer Leafdale is giving a presentation on how to read graffiti during Wednesday's meeting of the Canyon Country Advisory Committee.

Before Leafdale's talk, Santa Clarita Mayor Frank Ferry will be on hand to answer residents' questions.

Rick Gould, director of parks, recreation and community services will also be at the meeting to discuss a proposed Canyon Country community center.

The committee has been making an effort in recent months to bring city officials to its monthly meetings.

Also on the agenda are last-minute nominations for 2009 committee members, with elections to follow, and an update on the city's Extreme Neighborhood Makeover program in Canyon Country.

The committee meets from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the banquet room at the Santa Clarita Activities Center, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.
