On March 3, The Signal published the editorial “Conference center: Don’t give up yet.” I was delighted to read this article and I think the words were needed to offset the idea that the cost of the land and construction would keep the conference center from being built.

The plus side and the minus side must be considered in the equation, and your article states there needs to be further study on all aspects of creating a conference center.

Your article points out how much we need space to accommodate conferences that will draw new opportunities for Santa Clarita local businesses and new growth benefits for the city.

The city’s film office provides permits for filming in the SCV, and the income from this in one year is over $12 million to $13 million. This is part of just one economic development for the city.

A conference center needs to be built and can contribute to community residents.
