Fan of Ethically Speaking

Although I am not a churchgoer, I love reading the columns every Sunday titled “Ethically Speaking” by Grace Baptist Church Senior Pastor David Hegg. Indeed, his columns make me think and feel good about myself.

I say that if I were a churchgoer, I would want him to be my pastor. In fact, I might take in a couple of his services just to see if his pastoral skills are as good as his writing skills.

Most columnists only write great columns once every six months (although they tend to have good ones much more often than that).

Pastor Hegg has a great one every Sunday — never a dud.

Yes, I am a big fan of Pastor Hegg’s columns. I am not sure what kind of an academic education he holds but it would not surprise me if it were extensive.

Coming up with a great column every week is by no means an easy task to accomplish. I know that by experience. I have an extremely difficult time just writing my letters to the editor for The Signal.

Without a doubt, Pastor Hegg’s columns are not just written for those people who believe in God; rather, they are written for all people who are intellectually inquisitive.

I have read many columns in my life of 60 years, but I consider Pastor Hegg’s columns by far to be my favorites.
