SAN FERNANDOA 29-year-old West Hills man was charged today with kidnapping a 10-year-old girl from her Northridge home last week, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Daniel Martinez (dob 10-7-83) is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at the Los Angeles Superior Court, San Fernando, Department S, said Deputy District Attorney Laura Knight Jackson.

The West Hills resident is charged in case PA 076500 with one felony count each of kidnapping a minor under 14 and first-degree burglary with a person present. Prosecutors will ask that his bail be set at $150,000.

Martinez is one of two men suspected of kidnapping the little girl early Wednesday. Martinez was allegedly waiting in a car outside a Northridge residence when co-defendant Tobias Summers, 32 (dob 11-30-80), allegedly emerged from the house with the 10-year-old victim. Martinez allegedly drove a short way before leaving the car.

Summers, who remains at large, is charged in the same complaint with kidnapping a minor under 14, first-degree burglary with a person present and nearly three dozen counts of sexual assault. If convicted, he’s facing multiple life terms in prison.

The victim was found nearly 12 hours later at the corner of Canoga Avenue and Oxnard Street, barefoot and with visible injuries.

If convicted, Martinez is facing up to 12 years in state prison.
