A man and woman from Texas were arrested earlier today on a roadway near Castaic Lake park for allegedly transporting about four pounds of marijuana, according to a deputy from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Paul D. Schrader of the Sheriff’s Department Parks Bureau said the two were pulled over for a routine traffic stop at about 11 a.m. while driving on Castaic Lake Road.

During the course of investigation, deputies found some irregularities with the vehicle’s registration paperwork, Schrader said.

Deputies also discovered the man in the vehicle, identified as Adrian Dupree Anderson from Crowley, Texas, was on probation in Texas for a narcotics-related violation, Schrader said.

It was later determined that Crowley and his companion, Shaye Nicole Appleton of Cleburne, Texas, were in possession of four bags of marijuana with a total weight of around four pounds.

The marijuana has a street value of approximately $18,000, according to Schrader.

The two were arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station for transportation of marijuana with intent to sell.

“I guess this shows that if you are going to transport marijuana it would behoove you to have all the paperwork together on your vehicle,” Schrader said.
